FIVE INGREDIENTS.
EACH ONE COUNTS.

Dates. Peanut butter. Almonds. Sea salt. Cacao.

That's our Peanut Butter Cacao bar. Five organic ingredients, each bringing something different. Here's what goes into it, and why.

DATES.

The sweet, chewy foundation.

Dates give the bar its fruity sweetness and soft, chewy base. Their sticky texture helps bring the other ingredients together, so they're doing more than adding flavour.

We use them as the foundation for the richer peanut butter and the bitter notes of cacao. The sweetness comes with the fruit itself.

PEANUT BUTTER.

Rich, nutty and made only from peanuts.

Our peanut butter is exactly that: peanuts, ground into butter. No other ingredients in the jar.

It brings the peanut flavour at the heart of the bar, with a rich, creamy texture that works through the chewy dates. Paired with cacao, it gives us the flavour combination we wanted to start with.

ALMONDS.

Finely ground. Part of every bite.

You'll see ALMONDS on the pack. In the bar, we use them ground, so they mix into the date and peanut butter base rather than appearing as whole nuts.

They add a gentler nutty flavour alongside the peanuts and give the mixture body. We wanted them to be part of the texture throughout the bar, leaving the small, crisp bites to the cacao nibs.

SEA SALT.

A little contrast makes a big difference.

Sea salt brings a savoury edge to the sweetness of the dates. It helps the peanut and cacao flavours stand out rather than letting sweetness be the only thing you taste.

It's a small part of the recipe, but an important one: there to bring the other flavours together, not take over.

CACAO.

Tiny nibs. Chocolate depth. A little crunch.

We use small cacao nibs: pieces of cacao bean, rather than a chocolate coating or cacao powder.

They bring a deep, bitter cacao flavour that contrasts with the sweet dates and rich peanut butter. Because they're nibs, they also add little moments of crunch to the softer base. That contrast is part of what makes the bar.

And who doesn't like a bit of real chocolate?
